YMCA Awarded Grant Funds From Daniels Fund

Y In The Park

In a recent news release, the Daniels Fund, based in Colorado, announced it had awarded more than $46.5 million to numerous non-profit organizations and $4.3 million in grants to those specifically in the State of Wyoming.

One of the organizations receiving grant funds was The Johnson County Family YMCA in Buffalo, who received $79,000 to help with renovations at what eventually became the “Y in the Park.”

YMCA Executive Director Mike Quast explains more about how the funding was used.

The old indoor archery building, located at Buffalo's Washington Park across from the outdoor pool, is close to the other YMCA facilities, which was a major factor in choosing it for renovation and use by the YMCA.
It is now being used for after school kids' programs and other community and adult classes or activities during non-school times.

The total cost of the renovation/rebuild of the building, furnishings, utilities, computers, and other amenities was roughly $600,000
according to Quast.
The project was paid for by the Daniels' Fund Grant, other grants and private donations, and from funds from the YMCA.
