Services for Chet Firnekas, 89 year old lifetime Johnson County Resident, who passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at the Amie Holt Care Center in Buffalo, will be held from the Grace Fellowship Church Chapel in Buffalo, later this spring at a time to be announced. Interment will be in the Willow Grove Cemetery in Buffalo. Donations in Chet’s memory may be made to the Grace Fellowship Church, in care of the Harness Funeral Home at 351 N. Adams in Buffalo. Chester Owen Firnekas was born on August 30, 1927, in Buffalo, Wyoming, to Church and Maggie Firnekas. He grew up on the family ranch at Willow Creek, west of Kaycee. He went to high school in Casper, and graduated from Natrona County High School with the class of 1945. After high school he worked on the family ranch. He worked at various jobs in Johnson County all of his life, and spent most of his time living in Buffalo. He had been a resident of the Amie Holt Care Center for the past four years.
He was a member of the Grace Fellowship Church, and in his younger life loved music and was an accomplished musician. Chet enjoyed spending time with people and never knew a stranger or had an enemy.
He is survived by three brothers, Charlie Firnekas of Kaycee, Wyoming, Bruce Firnekas of Powell, Wyoming and Fred Firnekas of Ten Sleep, Wyoming; two sisters, Nita Donathon of Thermopolis, Wyoming; and Velma Kreuzer of Cheyenne, Wyoming; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded on death by his parents.
