Dale Selig

Dale Selig, 68, of Sheridan, lost his courageous battle against lung disease on Friday, March 8, 2013 at his residence, surrounded by his family.

Dale was born on October 6, 1944 in Sheridan, WY to parents Stanley and Amelia (Wantulok) Selig. He attended Sheridan County Schools.

After Dale retired from Decker Coal Company he was given opportunities to work for a logging operation in Russia from the ground up, including the set up of the heavy equipment. He took these offers traveling to Siberia in two separate journeys. The second trip he made sure to take along several trunks of extra food as he returned a little underweight after the first trip.

Back at home, the coal bed methane work was in full swing. The developers were quick to spot Dales ingenuity and experience. Dale worked closely with the methane management as a roustabout and became lifelong friends with the “big shots” as he often referred to them.

Dale's collections ran from antique autos to Indian and mining artifacts but his number one hobby was coin collecting which was introduced to him by his wife Elizabeth J. (Bouche') Selig. He was so devoted to this pass time and that he could not have a conversation without mentioning if the latest U.S. Mint coin was a good buy or not.

Dale was proud to be one of the founding donors for the Sheridan County Historical Museum in particular for the Monarch collection.

Two brothers preceded Dale in death, David W. Selig and Ronald A. Selig; a son Dale Martin (Marty) Selig, and his parents.

Dale is survived by his wife, E.J.; three brothers; Ernest Selig of Sheridan, Don (Lois) Selig of Yakima, WA, and Terry (Donna) Selig of Chehalis, WA,; and one sister Sharon (Mike) Darnell of Sheridan, his son George Lamar (Suzi) Selig of

Sheridan and five grandchildren; Amy Hammontree, Holly Hammontree, Heather Bruyette, and Marti Selig, all of Sheridan, and Miranda Jarrard of Superior, CO. Two great grandchildren are Adam Reichert and Hunter Rosalez of Sheridan. Dale was also loved and will be greatly missed by his many friends, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside Services for Dale will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery with Mike Darnell officiating. A Remembrance get together (Safety Meeting) at Kim's Family Restaurant will follow the Service.

Memorials for honor Dale can be made to the Wounded Warrior Program at 1 South Nevada Ave., Suite 205, Colorado Springs, CO 80903. Or the People Assistant Food Bank at P.O. Box 312, Sheridan, WY 82801.
