Funeral services for Gladys Rettinghouse, 87 year old Clearmont woman who passed away Friday at Sheridan Manor Living Center in Sheridan, will be held Saturday, October 4th at 10:00 a.m. from the Clearmont Community Church in Clearmont with Pastor James Stark officiating. Visitation will be held from the Harness Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday from the Clearmont Community Church from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Clearmont Cemetery with graveside services to follow the funeral. Donations may be made in Mrs. Rettinghouse’s memory to a fund established to help the family with final expenses.
Gladys Louise Rettinghouse was born on March 20, 1926 in Nashville, Tennessee to Charles and Eula (Beal) Anderson. She grew up and went to school in Tennessee. She was married to Wayne Rettinghouse during WWII, in Nashville, Tennessee, and after the war they moved to Meeteetse, Wyoming, where Wayne was a rancher and also worked in the oil fields. They lived in Montana for a short time before moving to Thermopolis, Wyoming, where they lived for several years. They then moved to Riverton where Mr. Rettinghouse was employed for the Farmer’s Exchange and Gladys was a home maker. In 1982 they moved to Greybull and then back to Riverton where they lived until 2006 when they moved to Clearmont to be close to their son and family. Mr. Rettinghouse passed away in May of 2008 and Gladys continued living in Clearmont. She had been a resident of the Sheridan Manor for the past couple of years.
She is survived by one son, Martin Rettinghouse of Greybull; one daughter Evelyn Smiley and her husband Gordon of Riverton; twenty-four grandchildren; forty-five great-grandchildren several great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one son.
