Funeral services for Jean Van Dyke, 83 year old Buffalo man who passed away at the Amie Holt Care Center August 22, 2013 will be held Wednesday, September 4th at 2:00 p.m. from the Union Congregational Church with the Reverend John Dyce and Dr. Bob Miller officiating. Visitation will be at the Harness Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 3rd from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, September 4th from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Memorials can be made in Jean’s memory to the Union Congregational Church in care of Harness Funeral Home 351 North Adams Avenue, Buffalo, Wyoming 82834.

Jean was born on April 16, 1930 to Jean and Ruth (Peterson) Van Dyke in Sheridan, Wyoming. He grew up and attended school in Buffalo, Wyoming. Jean worked at a local restaurant where he was dishwasher for several years. After his mother passed away Jean moved into an apartment above the Occidental where he resided until he moved to the Buffalo Apartments. Around the same time he took a job washing dishes at the Buffalo Senior Center. Jean could be seen most days riding his bike back and forth to work and everywhere else he needed or wanted to go. In 1986 he traveled by bus to Minnesota to visit his numerous aunts, uncles and cousins for a month. Later he moved into the Veterans Home until 2006 when he became a resident of the Amie Holt Care Center where he lived until the time of his death.

Jean enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Union Congregational Church in Buffalo. Jean loved riding his bicycle and it was one of his most prized possessions.

He is survived by Bill and Muriel Scofield, Hibbing, MN; John Scofield, Hibbing, Mn; Constance Scofield, Menominee,MI.; Beverly Prechel, Park Rapids, MN; and Edwin and Lois Peterson, Eden Prairie, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents and several aunts and uncles.
