Funeral services for Jim Karm, 89 year old Buffalo resident who passed away at Johnson County Memorial Hospital, will be held Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in Harness Funeral Chapel in Buffalo with Pastor Ron Maixner officiating. Following the service, a reception will be had at the America Legion Hall. A private family interment will be held at a later date. Donations in Mr. Karm’s memory may be made to the Karm Family to help defray expenses, care of the Harness Funeral at 351 N. Adams in Buffalo. Orvil James “Jim” Karm was born June 10, 1929, in Cuero, Texas to Henry and Claudia Karm. He attended school there, until he went to work on an off-shore oil rig at the age of sixteen, making $.95 an hour. Later, Jim worked at the power plant at Lake Alcova, as well as drove a construction truck during the building of the interstate between Buffalo and Gillette. He also resided in Las Vegas working on the Hoover Dam. In 1961, he married Nancy Henry in Las Vegas and they soon made their home in Buffalo. To their marriage four children were born, Gary, Terri, Mary Ann and Connie. Jim was the owner of Jim’s Garage and Wrecker Service, a mechanics shop that he owned and operated for over 35 years. He was known for being a jack of all trades he could build, fix or repair anything
Jim was an avid pool player, he loved the game and played every week. He most recently enjoyed playing pool at the senior center and at the VA, making lots of friends during his games. He also loved hunting, fishing and playing poker with family.
Jim is survived by his wife, Nancy of Buffalo; one son, Gary Karm and his wife Laurie of Buffalo, and three daughters, Terri Karm of Buffalo, Mary Ann McCormick and her husband Rich of Sheridan, and Connie Haveman and her husband Carl also of Sheridan; and four grandchildren, Matt Karm, Casey Karm, Nick Karm and Sarah Haveman. He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.
