Another cowboy goes to heaven to rope and ride in the big pasture. Marvin Leroy Taylor, 90, of Dayton, passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2016, at the VA Medical Center. He was born on January 23, 1926, in Ruleton, KS, to parents Charles Henry and Bertha Elizabeth (Beckner) Taylor. He was the 2nd oldest of thirteen children. He graduated from Seibert, CO, high school in 1944. After school he joined the US Navy as a Hospital Corpsman from 1944 to 1946. His discharge pay at the time was $100.00. In 1950 he married Dorothy Caroline Hinton. He raised registered quarter horses for the working cowboy. He received a 40 yr. certificate from AQHA for breeding. He was a member of AQHA for 75 years.

Marvin was a lifetime cowboy and rancher who enjoyed helping neighbors at branding time. He was a ranch manager for Groves Ranch in Galeton, CO, from 1954 to 1965. From 1965 to 1992 he managed Duck Creek Grazing Association in Cheyenne, WY. In the winter when he wasn't feeding cattle he braided rawhide, leather and cord for bridle reins, headstalls, and bull whips. He welded a full size horse, chairs, spiral flower stands, tables and a 2 /12 foot by 100 foot yard fence with archway gates out of horse shoes.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers, Jim, Dale, Larry and Don. He is survived by his four sons, Delbert, Stanley (Karen), Allen (Jo Ann, Larry West (Brenda) and their family, five grandchildren, Tamara (Dennis) Carbajal, Trudy (Chris) Oelrichs, Bart (Crystal) Taylor, Tracy Taylor, Jason (Brandy) Taylor, eight great grandchildren, Taj Allen Taylor, Samantha and Ryan Taylor, Connor Taylor, Sydney and Roman Carbajal, Dalton and Preston Oelrichs and his siblings, Bob, Tom, Buck, Dick, Floyd, Ethel, Alice and Betty.
