Funeral services for Mary Canoy 90 year old long time Buffalo resident who passed away peacefully Saturday, at the Maryville Nursing Home in Beaverton, Oregon, will be held Tuesday, November 5th at 2:00 p.m. from the Harness Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo with Pastor William Dunlap officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Interment will be in Willow Grove Cemetery with graveside services to follow the funeral. Donations in Mrs. Canoy’s memory may be made to the Buffalo Senior Center in care of the the Harness Funeral Home at 351 N. Adams in Buffalo.

Mary Alice Canoy was born on February 22, 1923 in Chapel, Nebraska to Francis “F.M.” and Mable (Gardner) Sisson. The family moved to Wyoming where Mary grew up on the family farm in the Thorn Divide area near Devil’s Tower. Mary met Robert Canoy in Moorcroft, Wyoming in 1960 and they were married and made their home in various places before settling in Buffalo. Mary worked for the Johnson County School District as a baker for the school lunch program, one of her life-long loves. After retiring Mary wanted to be with her family so she spent a lot of time mowing her lawn, working around the yard and generally keeping an eye out on the neighborhood on Spruce Street.

She is survived by one daughter Jeanie Smith of Florida; two sons, Larry Manke and his wife Nanette of Florida and Martin Canoy and his wife Julie of Beaverton, Oregon; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert, four brothers Leslie, Sydney, Ancil and Merle; two sisters Ruby and Francis and one son Eddie.
