Maxie Lynette (Miller) Heagy was taken by her angels on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 to be with the Lord in Heaven. She passed peacefully in her sleep at Orchard Pointe Assisted Living in Surprise, AZ surrounded by friends and family. She was born on March 29, 1934 in Sheridan, WY to George Richard and Melba Katherine (Coop) Miller.
Many years ago, Maxie worked at Sheridan Junior College as the secretary to the President. She then worked for Attorney Holstedt and eventually retired from the State of Wyoming.
Maxie loved playing all card games and the weekly bridge club outings, especially with her friends in Wyoming. Bingo and a few one arm bandits, occasionally held her hostage. She always held her own in the family poker games and was sometimes caught saying “15-2, 15-4 and a pair for 6” or playing some chicken foot.
Maxie was a member of the Sheridan Elks Club and remained an honorary member of the Kalif Temple after the death of her husband, Jim. She was also an avid worshiper of First Christian Church in Sheridan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Melba and George, and by her loving husband, Jimmy Lee Heagy. Maxie is survived by her two sons, Michael (Avanelle) Heagy of Surprise, AZ and Gary (Lana) Heagy of San Mateo, CA; her brother, Richard Miller of Thermopolis, WY; and five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
