Funeral services for Pat Berg, 67 year old Buffalo resident who passed away suddenly, Monday at his home east of Buffalo, will be held Tuesday, March 8th at 2:00 p.m. from the Harold Jarrard Park Building in Kaycee with Charlie Firnekas officiating. Interment will be in the Kaycee Cemetery with the VFW and American Legion in charge of military graveside rites. Donations in Pat’s memory may be made to the Pat Berg Memorial, to help the family defray costs, in care of the Harness Funeral Home at 351 N. Adams in Buffalo. Patrick Lee Berg was born on March 15, 1948 in Breckenridge, Minnesota to Leo and Barbara Berg. He grew up and went to grade school and high school in North Dakota. Pat joined the U.S. Marines in 1968 and served in the 1st Marine Division in Vietnam where he received a Purple Heart. He received an honorable discharge in 1971 and returned to North Dakota where he was a traveling cowboy. He moved to Kaycee in the early 1970’s where he continued working as a cowboy. He was married on July 11, 1978 in Buffalo to Lila Firnekas and they made their home in Kaycee where Pat was a Ferrier and a sheep shearer. They moved to Buffalo in 1987 where he continued working as a Ferrier and shearer. Lila passed away in May of 2007 and Pat continued living in Buffalo until his death. Pat was an accomplished artist and wrote beautiful poetry. He loved spending time with his family, especially his beautiful grandchildren.
He is survived by two sons, Jens and Dawson Berg both of Buffalo; three daughters Bonita Smith and her husband Jay of Gillette, Sophia Morgan and her husband Jesse of Dumas, Texas and Morgan Cross and her husband Wiley of Torrington, Wyoming; two sisters, Virginia Berg and Nancy Leidahl both of North Dakota and eleven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother Paul and one sister Georgia Sandvig.
