Mass of Christian Burial for Pauline Ney, 69 year old Buffalo resident who passed away quietly Wednesday morning the 2nd of March at the Amie Holt Care Center in Buffalo, will be celebrated Friday, June 24th at 12:00 noon from the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Buffalo with Father Pete Johnson as celebrant. A vigil service will be held and the Rosary recited on Thursday the 23rd of June at the Harness Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo at 6:00 p.m. Interment will be in Willow Grove Cemetery with graveside services to follow the Mass. Donations in Pauline’s memory may be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic or the Ami Holt Care Center in care of Harness Funeral Home at 351 N. Adams in Buffalo. Online condolences may be made at
Pauline Ann Ney born on August 8, 1946, in Sheldon, Iowa to Joe & Millie Ney. She attended St. Pat's Catholic school in Sheldon and graduated from Sheldon High School with the class of 1964. After high school she attended Stewart's Cosmetology School in Davenport, Iowa where she earned her cosmetology certification in 1966. Pauline worked in Sheldon as a cosmetologist for shops and then opened her own shop, Pauline's Salon, which she ran until 1981. In 1981 she moved to Buffalo, Wyoming with her sister, Sharon where she owned and operated The Nu Yu cosmetology shop and also worked at the Amie Holt Care Center as a hairdresser. In 2003 due to a serious illness she closed her business and moved to Bee Hive Assisted Living Center in Buffalo. In 2012 she became a resident at the Amie Holt Care Center where she lived until her death.
Pauline loved and lived her Catholic faith and was a member of The St. John the Baptist Church in Buffalo. She enjoyed praying the Rosary, bowling, going to the mountain to collect firewood, walking her numerous dogs and attending Tops meetings.
Pauline is survived by four brothers, Ted Ney and his wife Bonnie of Parma, Idaho, Bill Ney and his wife Marie of Yelm, Washington, Gene Ney and his wife Laura of Ashton, Iowa and Mike Ney and his wife Jackie of Sheldon, Iowa; three sisters, JoAnn DenBeste of Sheldon Iowa, Janice Berndt and her husband Herb of Davenport, Iowa and Sharon Shassetz and her husband Robert of Soldotna, Alaska; 23 nieces and nephews and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Joe & Millie, one sister, Ruth Strouth, two brother in-laws, Marvin Strouth and Daryl Den Beste and one nephew, Tommy Ney.
