Private family graveside services for Sandy Rives, 74 year old Buffalo resident who passed away at the Johnson County Health Care Center Tuesday evening will be held in Willow Grove Cemetery with Pastor William Dunlap officiating. Sandra Arvilda Rives was born on November 21, 1941 in Maude, Oklahoma to JL and Juanita Brooks. She went to school in various parts of the country with her family following her father’s work. They settled in Buffalo when she was a freshman in high school and she graduated from Johnson County High School with the class of 1959. After high school she attended the University of Wyoming for one year. She was married on July 1st of 1961 in Rapid City, South Dakota to Dick Rives and they made their home on the Triangle A Ranch West of Buffalo. They lived in Buffalo for nine years before moving to Linch where they lived for 6 years. In 1977 they moved to Rawlins, Wyoming where they lived until 1982 when they moved back to Buffalo. In 1989 they moved to Colorado where they owned and operated Rives Trucking until 2013 when they retired and returned to Buffalo. They continued living in Buffalo until her death.
Sandy enjoyed gardening and gambling. Her passion was her grand kids and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband Dick Rives of Buffalo; two sons, Wade Rives and his wife Deanna of Gillette and Miles Rives and his wife Tiffany of Buffalo; one daughter Alena Ryan and her husband Dan of Broomfield, Colorado; five grandchildren Ashley Engler and her husband Brian, Coleton Rives, Bridger Ryan, Lauren Rives and Taylor Rives; one sister Betty Knudson of Las Vegas, Nevada; sister-in-law Terry Brooks of Buffalo. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers Myron and Allen Brooks.
