Bronc Football Dominates in the Season Opener / First Weekend Results of the 2016 Fall Sports Season

FOOTBALL - The Broncs opened the 2016 season with a dominating 42-13 win over Laramie, the Broncs blocked a punt and opened the scoring early in the first quarter building up a 21-0 halftime lead and put the game away in the third quarter with three more scores to make it 42-0.

Head coach Don Julian says they were able to grab the momentum early and overall looked very good in the opener.

A couple other highlights was depth on the offensive and defensive lines.

Other 4-A teams winning Friday included Gillette, Rock Springs, Cheyenne Central and Cheyenne South and Julian says the league is well balanced this season and they have another tough game this week at Kelly Walsh. That game will kickoff at 7:00 Friday night.

The Tongue River Eagles, Big Horn and NSI all open their season's Friday.

The Eagles host Wind River, Big Horn is at home with Lovell and NSI plays at Burlington.

The Wyoming football Cowboys open at home with Northern Illinois Saturday.

The Denver Broncos play their next exhibition game Thursday night at Arizona and open the regular season September 8th with Carolina,

SWIMMING - The Lady Bronc swimmers finished 5th in Gillette relays Friday and were third Saturday in the Gillette Pentathlon.

They wil be on the road this week and at invitational Friday in Cody and an invite in Riverton Saturday.

VOLLEYBALL - The Sheridan Lady Bronc volleyball team went 3-2 at their season opening event in Cheyenne this week they will play at a tournament in Gillette.

The Tongue River Lady Eagles went 2-4 on the weekend at a tournament over in the Big Horn basin.

The Big Horn Lady Rams had a 3-3 record at their tournament in Douglas.

The Sheridan college Lady Generals volleyball team will host their own event this weekend with matches all day Friday and Saturday.

X-COUNTRY - The Bronc and Lady Bronc cross country teams ran in Casper the Lady Broncs were 3rd the Broncs were 5th overall.

Jared McCafferty and Brian Gonda had top ten finishes for the Broncs and Xiomara Robinson was the Lady Broncs top finisher in the girls race in 4th place. The Broncs and Lady Broncs run Friday at an invitational in Billings.
