The State American Legion Baseball Tournament Continues in Sheridan Today

AMERICAN LEGION STATE BASEBALL - The state American legion baseball tournament continues today with the Sheridan Troopers still alive after beating Rock Springs yesterday.

The Troops built up a huge lead and eliminated Rock Springs from the tournament 19-8 Head coach Ben Phillips says it as a good day to get all the players into the ball game.

Phillips says it was good to see the team bounce back after taking a tough loss against Laramie Wednesday night. And it feels good to win and advance to play another day.

The Troopers will play Powell this morning at 9:30, Cheyenne beat Powell 16-1 yesterday.

In other action Gillette shut-out Laramie 10-0 to advance to the winner's bracket semi final against Cheyenne tonight. The other elimination game yesterday had Casper beating Torrington 11-3 .

Today' schedule loos like this the Troopers against Powell at 9:30 is morning then Casper plays Laramie at 12:30 with the winners of those two games playing at 4:00. Cheyenne takes on Gillette at 7:30.

TONGUE RIVER FOOTBALL - Next week Tongue River high school football coach Chuck Walters will host the Screaming Eagles youth football camp. The camp will run next week Tuesday through Thursday. The camp is open to all kids entering the 1st grade through 8th grade. The camp will be held at Tongue River middle school in Ranchester from 6:00 – 7:30 each evening.

The cost of the camp is 20 dollars per camper they will begin taking registration at 5:30 Tuesday evening.

LITTLE GUY FOOTBALL - Next week registration opens for the Sheridan recreation district little guy football program they will take sign-ups at the rec office all next week.

LOCAL TENNIS - The Rec district will host the annual JD Mullinax tennis tournament next weekend August 7th and 8th. they will have mens, womens and Mixed doubles. Players can register at the Rec district office in Thorne-rider park. play begins at 8:00 next Saturday morning.

LADY BRONC VOLLEYBALL - The Sheridan Lady Bronc volleyball team will host a one day camp for girls in the 4th -6th grades at the “Y” August 11th. They are taking registration at the “Y” this week the cost is 40 dollars per camper.
