Weekend Local sports wrap up

BRONC FOOTBALL - The Bronc football team whipped Kelly Walsh 48-7, they opened up a 28-0 halftime lead and put it away in the 3rd quarter to go to 2-0 on the season after the victory Head coach Don Julian.

And for the first time in two games the Broncs really got physical with the Trojans in the second half.

They play at home Friday night against Evanston and Julian says the focus this week is to just keep moving forward and working hard to improve their play.

RAMS FOOTBALL - The Big Horn Rams opened the season with a nice 25-0 shutout win at Lovell the Rams will play Lyman at home Friday.

EAGLES FOOTBALL - The Tongue River Eagles opened the 2014 season with a nice road win as well beating Rocky Mountain 14-7. The Eagles host Moorcroft Friday at 1:00 and we will have it live for you on 14-10 KWYO and 87.7 FM.

COWBOY FOOTBALL - The Wyoming cowboys opened conference play at home Saturday and beat the Air Force Falcons 17-13 as they scored a touchdown in the last minute to win and go to 2-0 on the season. This week the Pokes play at #3 Oregon Saturday afternoon.

BRONCO FOOTBALL - The Denver Broncos opened up the regular season building a 24-7 halftime lead and beating Indianapolis 31-24. The Broncos play at home Sunday against Kansas City.

TENNIS - The Bronc and Lady Bronc tennis teams will be at home Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Thursday they host duals with Gillette at 3:00.

X-COUNTRY - The Bronc and Lady Bronc cross country runners Billings invitational

The broncs finished 6th: Taylor Bruso, 9, 16:16.14; Micah Sweeney, 17, 16:31.37; Kael Sweeney, 36, 17:04.02; JT Vrieswyk, 45, 17:10.97; Zach Petersburg, 73, 17:59.91; Cooper Neavill, 77, 18:11.58; Rion Szatkowski, 82, 18:16.48.

The Lady Broncs finished 9th: Xiomara Robinson, 9, 19:12.55; Janika Sweeney, 16, 19:51.10; Becca Bouley, 65, 21:50.34; Marissa Hegy, 75, 22:26.87; Hannah Wiley, 104, 24:17.05.

Sheridan high school will host the annual Michelle Ludwig invitational Saturday.

GOLF - The Bronc golfers won the Buffalo invitational Jack Mavrakis was the medalist for the Broncs, the Lady Broncs finished 3rd with Victoria Owings finishing 3rd overall. This week they tee it up at the Casper invite Thursday.

VOLLEYBALL - The Lady Bronc volleyball team went 4-1 at the Gillette invitational they play at Laramie and Cheyenne south this weekend

Big Horn went 4-2 in Gillette, the Lady Rams host their own invitational tournament Saturday, the Tongue River Lady Eagles went 1-5 in Gillette and will play at the Big Horn tournament Saturday

SWIMMING / DIVING - The Lady Bronc swimmers and divers will be on the road this week in Laramie and Cheyenne.
