Weekend local sports wrap up

BRONC / LADY BRONC BASKETBALL - The Bronc and Lady Bronc basketball teams both went 1-2 in Cheyenne last week dropping games with Natrona county and Rock Springs and picking up victories against Green River.

Broncs Head coach Gale Smith said the Broncs were up and down over the three days.

And he says they have a lot of work to do to get ready for the conference season. The underclassmen just need more game time.

The Broncs host Billings West Friday night while the Lady Broncs travel to play at West.

WINTER CLASSIC BASKETBALL - The Big Horn and Tongue River basketball teams hosted the Winter classic tournament.

The Lady Rams were 2-2 during the tournament, Head coach Micheal McGuire.

They have three more games this week as they prepare to start conference play in two weeks.

The Rams went 3-1 in their games Head coach Ryan Alley says his guys had a good week.

This week they play three more games Thursday-Saturday against Riverside, Rocky Mountain and Greybull.

Both the Tongue River Eagles and Lady Eagles went 2-2 during the classic they both have games with Greybull and Riverside this weekend.

GENERALS / LADY GENERALS BASKETBALL - The Sheridan college Generals and Lady Generals dropped games at Casper Saturday, the T-birds beat the Lady Generals 76-57 while the Generals fell 84-78.

They play Miles City and Little Big Horn community college this week on Wednesday and Saturday. they are home Wednesday at 5:30 and 7:30 and on the road Saturday.

COWBOY / COWGIRL BASKETBALL - The Wyoming Cowboys beat UNLV 59-57 Saturday, this week they play road games at San Jose state Wednesday night that broadcast will begin at 7:30, Saturday they play at New Mexico broadcast time will be at 3:30.

The Cowgirls lost at UNLV Saturday, this week the Cowgirls are at home with San Jose state Wednesday at 7:00 and Saturday at home with New Mexico at 2:00.

Both Cowboy games will be live on 14-10 KWYO and the Cowgirls live on 87.7 FM.

BRONC SWIMMING - The Bronc swimmers placed 4th in their own invitational Saturday, the event was held in Gillette because the Sheridan pool wasn't ready to host the meet. They will compete at Laramie and Cheyenne South this weekend.

BRONC WRESTLING - The Bronc wrestlers finished 2nd at the Shane Shatto invitational in Douglas just 6 points from the winners Cheyenne East. They had two champions Tucker Goss and Hayden Hastings.

The Broncs compete in the Cowboy invitational in Miles City this weekend.

HAWKS HOCKEY - The Sheridan Hawks hockey team is off until the 22nd and 23rd when they host games with Rock Springs.

BRONCO FOOTBALL - The Denver Broncos host the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday in the NFL divisional playoffs kickoff is set for 2:40 Sunday and we will have the game live on KWYO and 87.7 FM.
